First of all, I can’t even begin to share anything about Colony without sharing the amazing news!
Colony is such a great show with a thrilling story line that is perfectly cast. I can’t say enough about the writers except THEY NEED TO GET ON THE TWITTER BANDWAGON so that the fans, myself included, can shower them with love!
This weeks Episode is called Blind Spot. It’s pretty much the most thrilling episode of all, and you simply MUST go watch it. Then come back and watch out blab. And them remember to join in my weekly blab on Fridays. You know you want to join all the cool kids and come talk about Colony. We share our shock and awe, maybe some plot thoughts. hopefully some stars- but ALWAYS fans of Colony where we can get together and have fun!
Colony airs on Thursday nights 10pm EST on USA Network. You can also get the episodes on Amazon, as well!
This post may have an affiliate links. Those help to keep me in bacon, coffee, oranges, red hats and hosting. 🙂 #Collaborate or #Resist, but definitely watch #Colony.
Colony is one of my new favorite shows- and there is good reason. There’s a terrific cast, great direction and a fabulous story that keeps me on the edge of my seat .
One of the things that I LOVE is that Katie, played by Sarah Wayne Callies, owns a bar called The Yoknapatawpha. Yes, its a Faulkner reference. Yes, it’s a long name. Heck, I don’t even know how to pronounce it. In fact, on the show, it’s called “The Yonk.”. It seems like a place I’d want to hang out, especially in LA. The bar has a real New Orleans vibe and to this southern girl, I think each coast needs a southern place to escape to for a taste of home.
One thing was missing. A drink that echoed what The Yonk is about. So I put on my thinking cap and came up with one.
Meet- The Yonk.
It’s a mix of all the things the Yonk has going for it. A rim of sugar to let you remember all the sweetness that you used to have, before the sour hits. Fresh orange juice and lemon juice – probably grown in someone’s back yard. A nice shot of smooth bourbon-giving us a bite and a hint of smoke. It’s everything you can want in a drink that comes during an invasion. It helps you remember, and it helps you forget.
Wipe the rim of the glass with a slice of lemon, then rim it in the sugar.
Put all the ingredients in a shaker with some ice, shake till cold, then pour into a rocks glass.
Go sit on your couch and watch Colony on USA.
In a few short days, Colony will premiere on USA Network. Starring Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Peter Jacabson, you’ll see what happens when the US is invaded and you have to choose sides. And snack. Yes, you need snacks.
What side do you think you will choose? Will you Colloborate or be part of the Resistance? Well, gather your friends and watch the pilot of Colony on Thursday January 14th and decide. (hint: Colloborate side has coffee– and bacon) BUT, don’t just watch the show- you need to have some cool snacks to go with!
Every show premier needs Popcorn. Not ANY popcorn, though. Moms and Munchins had a fabulous recipe for a popcorn mix that is perfect for watching Colony! It’s the beginning of the alien invasion, after all!
Hungry Happenings has come up with the MOST adorable and tasty Olive Aliens. I need these for the show! A plate of salami or pepperoni and maybe some cheese along with some crackers would be perfect!
We all need cheese to go with our wine, er, drinks- and these little Mini Alien Cheese balls from Pampered Chef are PERFECT!
Speaking of drinks-A mix of Peach Schnapps, Baileys, Blue Curacao, and Grenadine never looked so OUTTA THIS WORLD! Thanks to the Tipsy Bartender for this weird looking drink this is promised to taste good, too!
Cookies are perfect for watching TV. Alien face cookies, like these from How Stuff Works are the ULTIMATE cookie for watching Colony.
Also perfect sweet ending to watching Colony is an Alien Cupcake. Duncan Hines shared the perfect way to make these adorable cupcakes!
Don’t forget to finish off the night with a cup of coffee, even decaf if you must. I’m still horrified that Peter Jacobson (Proxy Snyder) admitted on Twitter that he’s NEVER had coffee. I don’t know if I can even believe that. Someone never having had coffee is just as alien to me as little green men walking around outside.
Let me know if you try any of these snacks for the premier of Colony! I’d also love to know what you think if the show – tweet me @thewaitsover.
I don’t watch a lot of TV. In fact, for years we did without cable and we were just fine. But then my Walking Dead obsession began and we were offered cable for a very good rate and I took it. I still don’t watch a lot of TV, but I do enjoy the opportunity to learn about new shows as they come up.
That’s why I was excited about Colony. Okay, there is Sarah Wayne Callies, and yes she played Lori on The Walking Dead, but that’s not exactly a good thing for me. You see, Sarah is a good actor because she developed a character that I really didn’t like. I pretty much loathed Lori, and wasn’t sad at all to see her go– except maybe that scene where she said goodbye to Carl- that made me cry- but I digress—knew that Sarah was a good actor, and once I saw her on the commercial trailer I was intrigued. On the USA Colony blog she talks about how this character is so different than other woman characters. I’m looking forward to seeing what she’s got. To be honest, I never watched Lost (No cable, remember?) but I did know that Josh Henderson had me interested in knowing more about what he was up to.
I really like stories about humankind and how they would react to life altering events. When the shit hits the fan, who steps up to the plate? And man, the shit is flying here.
If you haven’t watched the pilot yet, and plan on watching the premiere on January 14, then please, stop reading. I don’t want to be THAT GIRL who posts spoilers.
I really liked the pilot. It drew me in and I really want to know more. I have a million questions:
And let’s talk for one minute about Proxy Snyder. Peter Jacobson is so deliciously smarmy and sleezy and just UGH- bad but dammit, I like him. When he showed up cooking breakfast, well, I knew he was a force to be reckoned with. I mean, c’mon. He brought both bacon AND coffee- two things I’m not quite sure I can live without.
I have to say it gave me a chill to find out that Maddie’s (Madeline Kenner) son, Hudson, has diabetes, a condition that is no longer treated to weed out the weak. With insulin running out, what is a mother to do? Every EOTWAWKI books has diabetics and heart patients being the first to die. How is he still alive? How long will he live?
There’s special shout outs to the older son, Bram,(Alex Neustaedter) who apparently is a all about helping his family by trading for things his family needs.
This is the story of what’s happening in the world, but it’s also the story of a family, and how it’s handling what’s happening to THEM, as well. I think that this show has a lot of offer, and we’re in for a long, bouncy, bumpy exhilarating ride!
